Use a simple, transparent formula
Divide the total trip distance in kilometres by the vehicle’s realistic kilometres-per-litre figure. Multiply the resulting litres by the current fuel price.
For example, a 600 km journey at 12 km/l uses an estimated 50 litres. Multiply 50 by the applicable petrol or diesel rate shown on the date of travel. This is an illustration, not a fuel-economy claim for a particular car.
- Estimated litres = total kilometres ÷ realistic km/l
- Estimated fuel cost = estimated litres × current PKR/litre
- Total trip distance should include the return journey and local driving
Choose a realistic consumption figure
Use the vehicle’s recent measured consumption when available. Traffic, idling, air-conditioning, speed, tyre pressure, elevation and passenger or luggage load can all move the result away from an advertised figure.
Add a reasonable margin for diversions and congestion. Fuel is only part of the journey budget; account separately for tolls, parking, food and accommodation.
